How Will *WE* Effect The Next Four Years?

1-barak3

I stumbled across this as I was reading yesterday and thought it incredibly appropriate for this election day:

“By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked” (Proverbs 11:11).

There is power in our spoken words. We have the ability to bless our country or to curse our country through what we speak over the next few years. We will not all agree with the policies of our new president. We will not all agree with his practices. Yet I want to encourage each of us to begin looking for the good in President Obama. For those of us who are Christians, especially, we have a responsibility to pray for our new leader. We have a responsibility to love and support him in both our prayers and our words. Love hopes all things, believes all things, bears all things, and endures all things. Love thinks no evil. If we are thinking no evil of President Obama, then we will not be capable of speaking evil against him.

“Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles” (Pro. 21:23).

“A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth” (Proverbs 12:14).

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Pro 18:21).

“You shall not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of your people” (Exodus 22:28).

Let us properly manage our words during the next four years, and live by the old adage “if we don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

“If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue… this one’s religion is useless”(James 1:26).
