How do you get great photographs of children?  Play with them!  Recently, I had a session with some friends from high school who wanted me to photograph their two beautiful children.  When they arrived, however, their little girl was just not interested!  This is pretty common for children her age and I’m fairly convinced that if we’d been in a studio session, trying to get her to sit and smile and look at the camera, things would have gone from bad to worse.  Instead, we went outside and started to play!  We picked flowers for Mommy, played with a kitten, went to visit some chickens… we had a blast!  Here is a sneak peek of some of the shots we got… isn’t she adorable?!

And here are some shots of her equally adorable brother… check out that hair – this is how it naturally grows!  Is that not the cutest thing EVER?

Ok, Rina, you have to tell me: did you do something to make the lights in her eyes shaped like stars?!

    • Rina says:

Wow, Jo, I didn’t even notice that! I guess they ARE shaped kind of like stars, aren’t they? Nope, no photoshop, that’s just the way her eyes caught the light coming through the tree she was laying under.
